Grow as an Educator at Aspen Center

Aspen Center’s strong reputation for best practice in early childhood education has made us a trusted learning site for future educators. Through practicum placements, internships, and our partnership with the Boulder Journey School Teacher Education Program, we offer meaningful pathways for students and emerging professionals to learn through hands-on classroom experience, mentorship, and reflective practice.

Degrees & Teaching Pathways

Aspen Center is proud to support future educators through meaningful pathways into the field of early childhood education.

Through our partnership with the Boulder Journey School Teacher Education Program (BJSTEP) and the University of Colorado Denver, individuals can become teachers at Aspen Center while earning their Master’s Degree and Colorado Teaching License.

We also partner with Front Range Community College through the Earn & Learn Early Childhood Education Apprenticeship Program, allowing participants to gain hands-on classroom experience while working toward an Early Childhood Education degree.

These opportunities combine coursework with real classroom practice, helping future educators grow through experience, mentorship, and daily work with children.

Internships & Practicum Opportunities

Aspen Center’s strong reputation for implementing best practices in early childhood education has created meaningful opportunities to help support the next generation of educators.

We currently partner with several higher education settings, including Front Range Community College, Colorado State University, and the University of Colorado Denver.

Adults pursuing careers related to working with children and families often seek out Aspen Center to fulfill experiential fieldwork requirements. These placements may include short-term practicum experiences or longer-term internships.

Students placed in our classrooms go through a rigorous interview process and are supervised by classroom teachers and administrators throughout their experience.

All participating students are fully background checked, fingerprinted, and complete all mandated training required by Colorado State Licensing.

"I am not exaggerating when I say my internship at the Aspen Center changed my life. I had no intention of teaching this age group, but I knew learning about the development of toddlers would be extremely beneficial for my career. As the weeks turned into months, I could not picture myself leaving at the end of my semester. All of the credit goes to my mentor teacher, Sophie, the director, Elizabeth, and all of the teachers and kiddos here at the Aspen Center. I have never been surrounded by so many individuals with this much passion for early childhood education. My internship felt organized and time was set aside every Friday for a meeting to discuss all things Reggio Emilia. Because I am new to this approach, these meetings were invaluable. I felt beyond supported throughout my internship. With this support I gained skills such as running a classroom, managing big emotions, and proper documentation. While I still have a lot to learn, I am confident that I will be able to do so during my time here at the Aspen Center. Thankfully I was offered a position towards the end of my internship and it was easiest "yes" I've ever given."
